- User Content: Backronyms and other text you submit during gameplay.

- Usage data: Game activity, scores, session duration, and feature interactions.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Log data: IP address, access times, and crash reports used to improve stability.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Authentication providers: If you sign in with Apple, we receive basic profile information as permitted by your Apple privacy settings.
- Advertising: Google AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data for ad personalisation (see section 6).
- Analytics: Aggregated, anonymised analytics to understand how the App is used.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and game profile.
- Operate the multiplayer game service (matchmaking, leaderboards, real-time gameplay).
- Process in-app purchases and manage entitlements.

- Analyse usage trends to improve performance and user experience.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the App and game services you have agreed to use.
- Legitimate interests: Preventing fraud, improving the Service, and ensuring security.
- Consent: Where required (e.g., personalised advertising), we obtain your explicit consent.

5. Data Sharing
We may share your information with:
- Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Apple (in-app purchases), and other vendors who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.
- Other players: Your display name, score, and publicly visible game statistics are shown to other players as part of normal gameplay.
- Legal authorities: When required by law or to protect our rights.
6. Advertising
The free version of BACKSIES displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by:
- Going to Settings → Privacy → Apple Advertising on your iOS device and disabling "Personalised Ads".
- Purchasing the ad-free upgrade within the App.

7. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
You can delete your account at any time from within the BACKSIES app (Profile > Delete Account) or by submitting a request via our Account Deletion page. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data. See our Account Deletion page for full details and instructions.
- Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
- Objection / Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

BACKSIES is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and secure credential storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your data may be stored and processed in countries outside your own, including Canada and the United States. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.
