Delete Your Account

You can delete your BACKSIES account at any time. This page explains what gets deleted, what is retained, and how to complete the deletion.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

Deleting your account permanently removes the following data within 30 days:

Your username, email address, and profile information.
Your game statistics, win history, and achievement records.
Your daily challenge submissions and voting history.
Your friends list and social connections.
Your push notification tokens.
Your authentication credentials — you will be signed out of all devices.

Please note: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your username will be released and may be claimed by another player after deletion. Any in-app purchases (such as "Remove Ads") are tied to your Apple ID and are non-refundable — they will not be restored on a new account.

What May Be Retained

Some data may be retained in anonymised or aggregated form for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, legal compliance, or statistical reporting) where permitted by applicable law. This data cannot be linked back to you personally.

Backronyms you submitted during gameplay may remain visible in historical round records in an anonymised form (without your username or user ID) unless you specifically request full content removal in your deletion request.

How to Delete Your Account

Option 1 — From Within the App

Open BACKSIES and sign in
Make sure you are signed in to the account you want to delete.
Go to your Profile
Tap the profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.
Scroll to "Delete Account"
Scroll to the bottom of your profile page and tap Delete Account.
Confirm deletion
Read the confirmation prompt and tap Delete My Account to proceed. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.

Option 2 — Request by Email

If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us directly. Include the email address or username associated with your account so we can locate it.

We will process your request and confirm deletion within 30 days.
